Updated 2E Imaginary 15 Laptops

2E has updated its most popular laptop, the Imaginary 15. The second-generation model has more processor cores, a higher-resolution webcam, classic white keyboard backlight, and optional licensed Windows 11. The body remains two-thirds metal, as before. We will tell you more about the advantages of the updated 2E Imaginary 15 in this article.

As the model name suggests, this is a laptop with the most popular 15.6-inch diagonal. The resolution is 1,920 × 1,080, and the refresh rate is 60 Hz. The bright IPS matrix has wide viewing angles, and its matte finish eliminates glare even in direct sunlight outdoors.

The top lid opens to a maximum of 180°, and the laptop weighs a moderate 1.75 kg for its diagonal.

And that’s with a fairly capacious 49 Wh battery that provides 11 hours of battery life. The exact time, of course, depends on the individual scenario of using the laptop. It can be charged using the included 45 W power adapter or optionally via a USB Type-C connector using Power Delivery technology. The proprietary software allows you to switch between several performance modes and, accordingly, power consumption.

With the same app, the previous generation 2E Imaginary 15 still allowed you to choose the keyboard backlight color, but the RGB LEDs were not able to display a perfectly white (only light blue or yellow). That’s why, by popular demand, the updated Imaginary 15 has a single-color white backlight with several brightness gradations. The backlight can be adjusted with the Fn hotkeys, as well as the built-in speakers volume with a power of 2 W each.

Stereo microphones with background noise cancellation are located above the screen next to the webcam. While the previous generation 2E Imaginary 15 had a simple 720p webcam, the new one has a solid 1080p webcam. Network interfaces are Ethernet (1 Gbps) and Wi-Fi 6 AX (2.5 Gbps). A USB Type-C connector allows you to connect not only fast external drives but also a monitor via a Display Port adapter. There is also a MicroSD card reader and a large touchpad with multi-finger gesture support.

The main innovation was the transition from 11th generation Intel Core processors to more multi-core Alder Lake processors. Thus, the Core i5-1235U has as many as ten cores: two powerful cores that are divided into four virtual Hyper-Threading threads, and eight more energy-saving Gracemont cores. In total, we get twelve computing threads, while the 11th generation Core i5 had only eight. The smart Intel Thread Director scheduler distributes tasks between powerful and energy-efficient cores in real time.

Turbo Boost technology briefly boosts the processor frequency up to 4.4 GHz. It also accelerates the integrated graphics card to a frequency of 1.2 GHz. In addition to undemanding games, the Intel Iris Xe graphics accelerator also supports Quick Sync and GNA technologies to accelerate video editing and artificial intelligence, respectively. The Iris Xe does not have its own video memory, so it uses part of the system-wide RAM, which, depending on the configuration, is 8 or 16 GB.

Thanks to the free SO-DIMM slot, you can install another DDR4-3200 MHz module to activate dual-channel memory mode. This will speed up the processor by up to 10 % and the integrated graphics card by up to 50 %. There is only one M.2 NVMe SSD slot: a PCIe 3.0 high-speed drive with a capacity of 256 GB to 1 TB is pre-installed at the factory. It can optionally be preinstalled with a licensed Windows 11 operating system, the security of which is ensured by the TPM cryptographic module.
